About Alexander Kozhemiakin
Alex Kozhemiakin was born in Moscow in 1973. He obtained his honours diploma from Moscow State Institute for International Relations and his doctorate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Alex began his career at Citibank as an emerging market sovereign debt analyst in 1997. After two years, he joined Putnam Investments where he became senior vice president and portfolio manager for emerging market debt. Since 2007, Alex has held the position of managing director of emerging market strategies at BNY Mellon Asset Management. He adopts a largely fundamental investment process supported by quantitative models. Alex cites a period of persistent growth differentials between emerging market countries and the developed world as best for his strategy. Alex is a CFA charterholder and member of the Boston Security Analysts Society. He was awarded a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard University. Outside of fund management, Alex is a family man, his interests are history and linguistics, and he enjoys running.
